By Jim Yoshida

Born in Seattle, WA, of Japanese American parents, Jim Yoshida grew up in a skid row hotel operated by his parents. He played football at his high school and was named All-City fullback and offered a college athletic scholarship. Sadly, his father died. His mother took him and his sisters to Japan to deliver his father's ashes to the family burial plot when WWII broke out and the family had to stay in Japan. Jim was forced to serve in the Imperial Japanese Army in China. There he had many experiences and suffered terrible ordeals. When the war ended and he made it back to Japan, he learned that he had lost his U.S. citizenship. To prove his loyalty, he persuaded a US officer to let him serve illegally as a volunteer throughout the Korean War. This is Jim Yoshida's own account of 2 wars and how he regained the admiration of his fellow Americans.
