From the introduction: "An exhibit telling the story of the 100/442nd Regimental Combat Team was begun in 1980 by a group called Go For Broke, Inc. The exhibit opened at the U.S. Army Museum at the Presidio of San Francisco in March 1981. The exhibit's success was overwhelming and spurred the creation of the Nisei Military Intelligence Service exhibit which opened at the same museum in November 1981." The exhibit was eventually expanded to include the total history of the Japanese American experience in the U.S. The story of Japanese Americans setting a brilliant military record while their families back home were confirmed en masse in barbed wire compounds sets the Japanese American experience apart from the story of other Americans.
